50 jaar onderzoek om de verkeersveiligheid te vergroten

It has been 50 years since Volvo Trucks’ Accident Research Team (ART) started systematically collecting, analyzing and processing real-life traffic accident data.

These insights have contributed to the development of safety systems and future vehicle designs, while the industry is moving towards safer trucks and transport.

ART’s work on passive safety or Volvo trucks. Passive safety is about minimizing the consequences of an accident, while active safety is about avoiding or reducing accidents in the first place.

“Every year, 1.35 million people are killed in road accidents worldwide. This is something that we take very seriously, “said Anna Wrige Berling, Director of Traffic and Product Safety at Volvo Trucks.

She continued: “Research by the Accident Research Team provides valuable insight that ultimately truck drivers offer a safer working environment and improve road safety for all road users.”

Volvo has the right idea. Our roads can only become safer if we learn from what has happened in the past.
