A truck driver who was caught on a British road at almost 140 km / h received a suspended sentence and was banned from driving.
The truck that overtook a car in Cumbria, on a descent from a road at 140 km / h, was caught by a police speed detection car.
The truck was equipped with a speed limit of 90 km / h, but still managed to drive almost 50 km / h above the legal top speed for that vehicle on the A-road before the driver used the brakes.
Fortunately, the electronic stability program of the truck (ESP designed to limit the loss of control) entered into force. If this had not been the case, there was a risk that the vehicle would have fallen.
Speaking of his regret for the situation, the truck driver said it was 11 seconds of madness that he wished it had never happened.
He was banned from driving for a year and will have to take an extensive re-examination.
